During my graduate program at The University of Houston, I received practicum experience at the University’s Counseling Center. After graduate school, I continued my training in domestic violence and sexual assault at Houston Area Women’s Center where I gained invaluable experience working with survivors in individual and group therapy. I continued counseling work with adolescents and families in a positive peer group recovery program providing individual therapy for dual diagnosis clients and counseling parents. Additionally, I obtained my certification for Anger Resolution Therapy.
During my initial years as a licensed professional counselor, it became apparent that I cherished working with women and had a heart for the specific challenges of being a teenage girl. While working as an Adjunct Professor at the University of St. Thomas, I enjoyed the enthusiasm and energy of college students and desired to inspire students to actively participate in learning.
I want to create lasting positive changes in lives through the integration of Biblical principles and sound therapeutic practices. Over the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of joining with women in a season of their lives when there is a need for support and guidance as they walk through a time of hardship of anxiety, depression or relational issues.
Culture and travel have always been a source of passion, intrigue and adventure. I’ve had the opportunity of traveling extensively throughout Europe, as well as Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Much of these adventures were experienced with my husband, Ron (a petroleum engineer). Our son, Austin (UTD graduate) is married to Cristina and they have four children which are the source of an entirely different adventure. I have three precious granddaughters, Mia, Isabella and Sofia and an adorably rambunctious grandson, David.
